Writing Groups

Small, facilitated writing groups meet for two hours on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule.

These ongoing groups offer an opportunity for writers to meet regularly for inspiration, support, writing prompts, informal instruction and facilitated feedback of individual work.

Each writing group develops its own personality - and once it begins, it is closed to new members. This helps to maintain a steady, secure, and familiar atmosphere conducive to creative and personal freedom.

With each progressive meeting, participants will discover opportunities for personal investigation through the shared experience of creative expression, plentiful ideas and unique writing styles.

Groups are limited to six members, this ensures that each participant has ample opportunity to read their writing and receive feedback.

Classes and Workshops

Classes and Workshops are designed to facilitate free and creative expression in a comfortable, safe environment where experimentation is encouraged. Writing instruction is provided through brief, informative mini-lectures about specific topics such as creating compelling characters, writing convincing dialogue, how to ‘choreograph’ a scene, and choosing point of view that optimizes your story.  Most instruction occurs during interactive workshopping time so that questions or challenges that come up with particular writing pieces can be addressed informatively and supportively.
